Deck & Fence Staining

Fences and decks can be jaw-droppingly beautiful, but not if they’ve taken a beating from our unrelenting summer sunshine and torrential downpours. If you want to keep your fence looking its best, deck and fence staining is a no-brainer.

Perks of Fence and Deck Staining

Wondering whether it’s worth it to stain your fence or deck? We think so. Take a look at these perks:

  • Wood fences last about 15 years, but yours could show signs of wear sooner if you forgo staining.
  • Stain can transform the look of your deck or fence. Plus, you’re not limited to one stain color.
  • Stain protects your deck and fence from moisture and pests, both of which we have plenty of here in the metroplex.

So Many Colors To Choose From

You’ve got two main choices for staining: transparent or semi-transparent. Which is right for your property?

Transparent stain allows the natural color of the wood to shine through. This is a great pick if you have a deck or fence made of high-grade wood.

Semi-transparent stain includes finely ground pigments to change the color of your fence while preserving its natural beauty. This type of stain is fantastic if you want to hide imperfections in the wood.

How Do Deck and Fence Staining Work?

It’s important to prep a fence or deck to ensure the stain lasts. When Stellar Painting arrives at your home:

  • We’ll remove any stuck-on gravel, dirt, and chipped paint with a pressure washer. Pressure washers can damage wood if you use the wrong PSI, so it’s a good idea to have a pro do this for you.

  • If necessary, we’ll sand the wood to give the sealant a smooth surface to adhere to.

  • Once everything is clean and dry, we can apply the stain.

  • All done! Sit back and enjoy your gorgeous fence or deck.

It’s best to apply deck and fence stain on days that aren’t too hot or humid (we know that’s tough here in DFW). We suggest staining your deck in early fall or late spring. Before staining, check the weather forecast, and don’t apply stain if it’s going to rain.
